thanks for your efforts in bringing light in the Grams-Relationship.

You mentioned the "nice horses" - indeed, horses had been obviously the pride and joy of many colonists in Volhynia. Perhaps you can compare it with cars today. My mother told me, that sometimes the men had stolen meal from the kitchen to feed their horses.

Moreover my mother told the story, that after a wedding two guests made a horse race. I don't mention names - you will understand why, after having heard the whole story. As fact - no Eisbrenner was involved. After the race of course there had been a winner and a looser. The looser was getting hot-tempered and slayed his horse with a "Sielscheid". I do not know how to translate Sielscheid - it's a part of a horse car.
