Hello Debbie, I am replying in English because I do not speak or write German and a translation would just confuse things. My grandfather came to America listed as Rudolf Rines, which I have reason to believe means Rudolf Rinas. He was born 1894 and immigrated in 1913. His home is listed as Labukin, Vohlynia which is possibly what used to be called Lubachin. That is near Novograd, also in Zhytomyr oblast. His father was J Friedrich Rinas and his brother was called Ernst Rinas. I have seen birth and marriage records for Ernst and also Friedrich Rinas but they don't quite fit my family history.

Interestingly, my grandfather was originally trying to get into Canada to go to Steinbach, Manitoba to meet up with a man called Gustav Schwanke, also from the Novograd area.
