Hello Joseph,

this is a forum of Volhynia, so not the right one for the Belovesh region. However I can confirm your statement that church records of the Belovesh region before 1840 are unknown, BUT maybe they exist in Ukrainian Archives. If they don't exist any more, I'm sure that additional records such as census lists or land records exist as in the Russian Empire such records were written down everywhere. So my advice is to contact the State Archives of Chernihiv Oblast:

A few years ago I contacted Archives in Russia and Ukraine and answered for church records and 50 % of these Archives answered. So you have to try it. It would be great to learn the result of your inquiry.
