Ludwig Kommers was my great-great-great-granfhater.

Since I was a child I heard my grampa's ancestors had some relation with Italy.
We thought he (my grampa Willi Wottrich, son of Hulda Kommers, daughter of August Kommers) had an italian great-grandmother, but than I found all his ancestors until his great-grandparents and some of his great-great-grandparents and there's only german names and all of them lived a while in Volhynia.
So I still asking me wherefrom come this italian root?

By reading your doubt about this 20 years you don't know where Kommers lived, my best guess would be Italy, because many italians used french ports (Marseille and Bordeaux) to go to America.
I didn't find any italian record, but maybe it gives you some clue.
