August Meister

Hello, I believe I am your distant relative and also the relative of Dieter Meister who has written here!

Your August Meister's father was Christian Meister, the family was Lutheran and some of the family lived in Antonijew.

Christian Meister had other children, one of whom was Michael Meister, my great-great grandfather. I know that Michael was the son of Christian Meister because I ordered the EWZ file for one of Michael's children.

Michael was Lutheran and had several sons, some of whom were also born in Antonijew.

Three of Michael's sons moved to Chicago, USA but the rest of the family stayed in Europe. I am the descendant of Michael's son Daniel, who moved to Chicago.

Daniel married a Polish woman who was ethnically German, and they raised their children in Chicago speaking Polish and German at home. Unfortunately his son (my great-grandfather) raised his children speaking only English, in part because Michael Meister was not a good father, in part due to bad treatment my great-grandfather received in America during WWII for being "German", and in part because he married a woman who only spoke English. My great-grandfather was alive until 2018 and continued to remember the German language, however never taught it to us. Maybe I will learn it now!

Aside from what is in that thread, I have collected a lot of information and documents which I can send to you and Dieter Meister in a ZIP file.

Me and my family are very excited to talk with you and Dieter and to learn what you know about your side of the Meister family.
