Wappler

My father had a brother named Emil Wappler who was expelled to Siberia. He had 4 children. I am trying to find out what happened to the family. Emil Wappler was born circa 1894-1896 probably in Lutsk. Can anyone tell me where I could write to find a death record? Emil Wappler's parents were Adolf and Auguste (Schiller) Wappler. Vielen Dank!

Erica,
Considering Siberia's 10 million square kilometers area, this would be a needle-in-a-haystack search. There is no way to give advice as you didn't mention where Emil lived nor did you say when he died.

In order to write for vital statistics records, you will need to know the name of the parish where your family lived, a time frame and maybe the religion they practiced.

Did you have any success with the EWZ records and with Stuttgart?

Irene,
I agree that it is like searching for a needle in a haystack! I have very little information. I do know that the family was Lutheran, and I have a photo of Emil Wappler's family with Russian writing on the back of it and it is dated 1948-1950. I checked the EWZ Files that are online and nothing. My father was born in Dombrowka, that is the only village that I know about. Is there an address in Stuttgart that I can write to for information?

If Emil Wappler's family was in Russia in 1950 he cannot be listed in the EWZ records. You may still want to search for Wapplers from the Konin area. If at all, they would be in the EWZ 52 series films for Poland: Indices of those films are not online.

As for the address of HOK Kirchlicher Suchdienst, I remember giving you the address in 2002 already. See also:
