I have received a second confirmation that the list about Podolia which Irene found is a list of names, not places. This person also pointed to a place called Rakosh. However, it is located a short distance NW of Khust in former Galicia. Is it possible that your ancestors were born there rather than in the Russian part of Ukraine?

Another guess is a place called Rogaschi located about 120 km SW of Kiev.

I apologize for the guessing but you already know that the name is apparently not spelled correctly so that is the best we can do. Hopefully you can come up with some other clues that will give you the region where this should be.
