Thank you for answering my post. Yes, indeed we are cousins!

I spoke to my mother, Lydia, and she sends greetings to your mother. My Mother well remembers meeting your parents in September 1980 during their visit to Germany. They stayed with your uncle Richard. He and my father were the same age and good friends when they were young.

I also am puzzled by the Schur/Meister connection. I apologize for the error. Else Jaworski geb. Tepper - (daughter of Olga Kukasch and Eduard Tepper) also did not know. However, Mathilde Meister was related by marriage somehow, as my aunts - Alma (geboren in 1928) and Sophie (geboren in 1937) remember her visits to Warthegau. Mathilde had been married to a Polish Army officer and was well off. Else died in September 2007.

I have a copy of Gustav's baptism document states he was born in Konstantynow Poland in April 1865, the son of Julianne Pufahl and Johann Ferdinand Kukasch. The Polish spelling was Kukacz.
I believe Gustav Kukasch was married twice but have no information on his wives and he died before 1934 - so he was about 79. My father told me his grandfather had a big beard and died when he (my father) was about 9 years old.

I read and speak German - but my written German is not strong. Please write in German if it is easier. I also have a contact with my mother's Baier side of the family and he writes to me in German and I write in English. It works.

I would be pleased to share information on our families.
