I am interested in exploring information about Kallasch. You mention about Emilie Süss (geb. Kallasch) from Volhynia. My Great Grandfather married Eleanore Kallasch on 4 March 1864 and they settled in Ostrowka, not far from Gnadental. In May I made a trip to Volhynia (the Don Miller tour) where we got to explore ancestral villages and do some research in the archives. I saw what is left of Ostrowka (one house - the former Stahl house). I also went to find the villages of Gnadental and Granidub (formerly Alexdandertal), and have many pictures of these places. These two villages were home to some Kallasch families (based on the St Petersburg files). Perhaps we can work together on the Kallasch connections, if you are interested. I have found some of the familiar Kallasch names in the EWZ records, and hope to start working on exploring these next, but have no experience with this.

My father Emil Neumann was the son of Johann Neumann, the eldest son of Christian and Eleanore Neumann (nee Kallasch). He emigrated to Canada in the spring of 1929. His papers show the he went back to Zhitomir to get his final permission to leave. His cousin, Lidia Neumann (daughter of Julius Neumann - another son of Christian and Eleanore Neumann), married Edward Stahl and emigrated to Canada in 1927. I have a 1927 picture of the Stahl family taken in front of their house in Ostrowka. Edward and Lidia are in this photo. They left for Canada shortly thereafter. Lidia's grandmother was Eleanore Kallash.
