Dear Gerhard
Thank you for your quick reply regarding Chutor Wasilewsky and my apologies for not saying so sooner.
I presume there is no more information available, except for perhaps a visit to the place itself?
Was Chutor Wasilewsky a German settlement or might it have contained a mixture of Germans and Ukrainians? My father could speak German, but I presumed he had learned it after his deportation to Austria in 1941.
My father claimed he came from a place called Lubhota, but I cannot find this it anywhere. This is why I am interested in Chutor Wasilewsky. It potentially matches all my father said about where he came from. If anyone has any suggestions I would be more than happy to hear them.
He was a glassblower and so was his father (according to my mother's marriage certificate). My grandfather died around 1929, about the time Stalin started removing the Kulaks. Does anyone know whether there were any glass works in the area, such as perhaps at Huta Justinowka?
This forum is a very interesting one.

The place was called Luphota and not Lubhota (I keep doing that!).
