My paternal Grandmother, Elizabeth Neumann (geb Albrecht) married Johann Neumann (eldest son of Christian) in Heimthal around 1888. Before 1900 Johann moved the family to the Ufa region in Russia. After Johann died (1905) his wife Elizabeth (nee Albrecht) raised the family, looking after the family farm at Kalonko Dawlekanowo. Eilzabeth sent my father, Emil, to a Mennonite boarding school (Die Armenschule) where he received a bilingual education. My father left for Canada in 1929 and all his children were born in Montreal. His five siblings and mother remained in USSR, so I never met them. I do know that Elizabeth Neumann (nee Albrecht) died in Klippenfeld, Molotschna in Southern Ukraine on September 30, 1936. I am sure this was a Mennonite Colony, and I am wondering if the Albrechts were Mennonites. I know that there were some Mennonite families in Heimthal, Volhynia. I have no information about this Albrecht line, other thanwhat I have just posted about my Grandmother.
